Covered with grime, I scrubbed it up and what appeared was a gorgeous, vibrantly-colored marble. Limited edition.

SUNDAY's Spring Stuff

SUNDAY: early spring ~ Grants Pass, Oregon

...it's a chrystal clear Sunday morning that wants to push you out the door and into the yard for early spring yardwork. I'm thinking I'd just love to get my herbs planted but then I quickly remember how many years we've had late spring frosts. One year it froze on Mother's Day and I had planted all my tomatoes, herbs, etc. Lost every single tomato and had to replant; don't think I want to do that again! So, I'll just enjoy the Daffys and do a little last minute pruning...and then back to beading. Darn, twist my arm! Time for vegie planting is still a few months away ~ these gorgeous days are just ticklers; it'll be raining by Wednesday!

TUESDAY's Project: "Tsunami!"

"TSUNAMI!"

It's a process....I've been asked more than once how I create and put together a freeform piece? I'm sure that there are as many ways of doing this as there are artists creating them ~ this is just my way and often, each project is a different process for me as well. I call this piece a "dust collector"; it will eventually rest on a table top as a beadwoven decoration (i.e: dust catcher).

Starting with the basic bead selection, the array stretches across multiple beading trays and my studio is in complete shambles. Even the dogs don't know whether they should come in or not and generally they're laying across my feet when I'm at work. For this piece I am having to work in sections. 1) Main section; the wave was made separately and attached to the main piece 2) Beadwoven star fishes and glass fish; attached together forming a unit. 2a) Extra accessories of shells; both real and beaded. Don't know whether they'll be used or not yet; TBA. 3 & 4) The Base; I thought of several possibilities and decided on making one huge starfish for all the components to sit on ~ don't yet know if it will work or be too bulky, no matter how I bead it it wants to twist and turn which makes it interesting, but hard to perch the other components onto....stay tuned...in process!
